What Is Your Wish?

Readers respond: Our wishes tell us something about what it means to be human. If you had one wish for the world, your family or yourself, what would it be?

  1. My wish for the world is that more compassion is infused in all our interactions.

  2. Right now, I am wishing for success for my youngest. It’s so important to us as a family and to my own well-being.

  3. I wish for happiness for my children and Grandchild.

  4. I wish for my husband to be healed.

  5. Choosing only one wish is a challenge because their are so many. Ultimately, I have taken this close to my home and heart and selected a wish that can benefit me personally but also help others.

My wish is for the scientists and medical specialists to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. My husband has this disease and while he’s doing well on his current medication regime, it can be such a debilitating illness. The unknown can be the scariest part and you have to live your best day today because you never know what tomorrow will bring. I have learned that sick folks share this invisible bond and compassion for one other. It’s very touching.

Thank you for this forum and these thought invoking questions.

  6. I have been spending my weekends supporting my wife at various earlier.org events where we take one of 6 brand new cars that are wrapped in a colorful pink wrap to public locations where people can, for a $1 donation, sign the car. The hoods of the cars are wrapped in white and it’s a section that is reserved for survivors or for “in honor of” signatures. It’s powerful to see everything that people have written and it can bring tears to your eyes. There are a lot of folks who wrote messages of hope and encouragement. I’d like to think that if there’s one thing I have learned from all of this, it’s that hope is the strongest medicine in almost any circumstance. So, my wish is for those folks who posted here, who opened their souls to share a little, that their wishes come to fruition or that they keep on hoping until they do.
